"Oceans of Love" Octopus Letterpress Card $5.00

I’ve always loved to draw, and spent some time recently creating a series of drawings based on 19th century natural history illustrations.

The octopus on this card is one of the results of the new drawings, and is centered above a sweet line of text reading, simply, “oceans of love”. The octopus is printed in a hand-mixed ocean blue ink, and the message is printed in a dark blue.

My great grandmother used to sign her letters to my mom, “Oceans of love!” and the phrase seemed just a little too appropriate to use with this particular octopus.

Each card is letterpress printed by hand on my 1915 Golding Official No. 4 cast iron press. There is lots of soft white space around the message on the front of the card, and the inside of the card is blank.

This card is printed on pearl white 100% cotton (tree free!) Crane’s Lettra stock and measure 5 ½" wide x 4 ¼" high when folded. The card is packaged in biodegradable cellophane, with a matching kraft brown envelope.
